In 2014 Avard Civil were awarded the contract to perform the bulk earthworks for the Bendigo Gaol.
The project consisted of:
8,500 m3 bulk cut to a depth of over six metres
70% of excavation into natural siltstone rock
Due to heritage walls and the delicate nature of the existing prison foundations, a diamond blade saw was attached to the excavator to knock the rock out in blocks with laser monitoring of the walls for movement
Detailed excavation for footings
Preparation and installation of 2,300 m2 of asphalt courtyards
