Based in Bendigo, The Otis Foundation provides retreat accommodation at no cost to anyone dealing with the challenges of breast cancer. With properties in every state of Australia, Otis offers opportunities for those seeking a place to relax, connect, and regroup with family or friends. CEO of The Otis Foundation, Claire Culley, says the foundation is the only one of its kind in Australia. “Otis is truly unique in the cancer space,” says Claire. “Our goal is to give guests and their loved ones the gift of time and space, while also creating memories that will endure.”

With the great support from Avard Civil the’ Cheer the number 8 pink dog campaign’ has been amazingly successful and raised $9k during the month of September, in real terms this means approx. 20 families will receive a 5 night stay at the time they need it the most.

I would like to share a quote from an Otis Guest who has been the recipient of one of these stays, as sometimes it’s difficult to understand the impact you have when you support Otis. This is just one of many:

“It really is one of the most fun times I've had in my entire life. I cannot describe my feelings as much as I am happy.  Thank you very much to you and everyone who contributed to making my heart happy after my suffering.”

The Cheer the 8 campaign was the first of many that will be held at the club during the month of September. The campaign saw a total of 16 number 8 dog winners totalling a combined donation of $7200 from local business along with the Girls Night Out Fundraising event raising a further $1800. Bendigo Greyhound Racing Association General Manager Charlton Hindle also acknowledged that these events don’t happen with the support of local business’ like Avard Civil.

Avard Civil are proud to be partnering with a great community organisation, Bendigo Foodshare, assisting to build their new home base in Golden Square.
