ESTIMATOR
(CIVIL CONSTRUCTION)

Due to continuous growth, we are seeking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join our team on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Senior Estimator, this role will manage all aspects of estimating, with a key focus on client liaison.

 

Avard Civil perform a large range of civil and structural projects, ranging from bulk earthworks, road construction, recreation facilities, bridge construction and commercial building projects. Avard Civil is a dynamic and rapidly growing civil construction company willing to challenge all aspects of the civil industry.

 

Requirements of the Role:                                                                                         

We require the services of an experienced estimator to assist the growth of the company in securing contracts. Your role will entail:

  • Coordinate civil, structural, concrete, landscaping estimates and tenders.

  • Seek and source tender opportunities via open market or your network contacts.

  • Reviewing and interpreting plans and specifications.

  • Perform site visits and attend site briefings to obtain the relevant information.

  • Performing take offs utilising Mudshark and Cubit software programs.

  • Source pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Prepare tender submissions, methodology and schedules/construction timelines using Microsoft Project.

  • Ability to compile letters of offer quotations.

  • Reviewing contracts and scope of work documents.

  • Follow up previously submitted tenders and quotations.

  • Preparations of budgets and handover documentation to the Project Manager teams upon award of projects.

  • Assist Project Management team with variation costings.

 

Skills and experience:

  • Experience in estimating civil and structural projects.

  • Outsource subcontractor pricing where required in a timely manner.

  • The ability to create schedules, complete take offs and prepare cost budgets in a variety of formats is essential.

  • Ability to work autonomously, or in a team environment.

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

  • High level of negotiation and analytical skills.

  • Sound working knowledge of Project Management principles.

  • An eye for detail and accuracy with numbers. 

  • Proven ability to work under pressure.

  • Effective time management of workflow to meet tender deadlines.

  • A minimum of 3-5 years estimating experience with a proven track record of delivering successful, competitive and profitable tenders.
